Molusca Fall 2015 Reed, Shibori and pleated cotton fabric.
Through the shibori techniques of binding fabric, and folding, I wanted to to create depth, pattern and texture through exploring the possibilities of transforming a piece of cloth into an organism. I was looking at the body of structures of shells and its relationship to color patterns as a start point to create the sculpture.
Another important discovery is that one of weight, compression, expansion and touch points with its environment. I decided to create a subtle contact point between the object and the wall, which gave weight to a material that appeared lifeless before it had an environment to live in.
